Italy and Sweden won the
Lapland Fishing Festival
Italy and Sweden won gold in the Lapland Fishing festival. Aldo Silva
won the flyfishing competition and Stefan Karlsson won the pikefishing
competition.
Even this competition was affected by the vast amount of rainfall that
hit Västerbotten during the first weeks in July. The flyfishing competition
was in the river Åby älv that offered very high water and tough
conditions. But the biggest surprise was maybe the tough fishing for pike
in the Lake Finnträsket. This lake is noramlly a superb lake for
pike, a fact that also was visible for the competitors, but the pike didn´t
want to eat. Some competotrs saw pike and practically threw the bait just
in front of the mouth, with no reaction from the pike. After 2 sessions
a well worth first place was taken by Stefan Karlsson, Sweden.
