Yesterday (sunday) I visited the fishing area Gafsele (where also the company Lapland Pronatur has there pikefishing-activities). The manager of the local fishing area, had tried for perch in the lake Bredträsket that for sure hadn´t been fish for about 20 years.

He remembered a rumour from an old man that used to be there 20 years ago, regarding the big perch but due to the hard transport no one had bothered to put a boat there. Åke (the manager) decided finally to put his own boat there to try for himself. After the first day fishing he called me.
Come as fast as you can, this is incredible!!

My friend Leif and I drove the 180 km from umeå and went there together with Åke, me in a floattube and Åke and Leif in the small boat. The result was chocking, even used with lakes that haven´t been touched for long, this was amazing. After one days fishing we caught about 150 perch, roughly 20% over 1 kg, 50% between 0.5 kg and 1 kg and 20% under 0.5 kg.The biggest reacing 1.5 kg.We tried to get a 2 kg but didn´t succeed, but we are sure that this lake must hide even those.

As a bonus I also caught a pike on 7 kg (14 lb) that was so aggressive that he took a bite over my fin, and refused to let go until we managed to (by force) open his mouth , so we could release him.

All this was done within a limited area og 30 x 30 m in the middle of the lake, so we didn´t bother to check the rest of the lake. This we will do next year, hopefully with some foreign friends that likes to try the area around the village Gafsele and the company Lapland Pronatur.
