Salmon and seatrout fishing in Västerbotten 2005

The arly spring gave a good start for the salmon and seatrout in Västerbotten 2005. The river Kåge älv and especially the river Vindelälven showed some really good results compared to previous years.
The seatrout fishing prooved difficult, dispite the early and promising spring. The spring fishing for seatrout in the rivers: Åbyälven, Rickleån, Hörnån, Öreälven and Lögdeälven, were not as good as in 2004. But in the rivers Byskeälven and Kågeälven the spring fishing for seatrout was much better than previous years!

In august,the heavy rain attracted some big seatrout. In Rickleån a seatrout on 9,4 kg got caught this period.

The fishing for salmon started excellent with the best conditions regarding temerature and the correct amount of water, and this situation lasted to late June. The biggest salmon in river Byskeälven was caught on a spinfishing rod, and the weight was 17,5 kg.

Åby älv
Nr of salmon: Appr. 15 (biggest caught 9 kg) Nr of seatrout: Appr 40.(biggest 4.5 kg)

Byske älv
Nr of salmon: 340 , Nr of seatrout: appr. 200 .
The number of seatrout increases every year. The biggest salmon (17.5 kg) was caught on a spinfishing rod. Appr 1200 salmon passed the salmon ladders in Fällfors.

Kåge älv
Nr of salmon: 39 , Nr of seatrout 64 .
Both the biggest salmon (10 kg) and the biggest seatrout (6 kg) was caught on a fly by the local fisherman Micke Lindström.

Skellefte älv
Nr of salmon, 150 , seatrout 200-300.
Biggest salmon was 21,4 kg.

Rickleån
Appr 75 seatrout, biggest seatrout was 9,4 kg

Sävarån:
One salmon, appr 20-30 seatrout..

Vindelälven
Salmon 200, seatrout 20-30.
More than half the catch was caught the first 2 weeks in september on trolling with spinfishing rods.The biggest salmon was 10 kg.

Ume älv
Salmon: 30, seatrout 250.
In total 4 089 salmon and 250 seatrout passed the salmon ladder in Norrfors.

Hörnån
One salmon and about 50 seatrout. The biggest seatrout was 6,5 kg.

Öre älv
Salmon: about 30, seatrout about 200.
Good fishing in Långedsforsen. Biggest salmon appr 8 kg.

Lögde älv
Salmon: 70 st, seatrout 250.
Good fishing in the beginning of the season. Biggest salmon 11 kg, biggest seatrout 5,5 kg.
